appropriate Essential Oils in an Aromatherapy treatment. Essential Oils are

Essential Oils are created with the following principles in mind:
1.
Synergy:
When Essential Oils are blended, a certain effect, such as calming or uplifting,
for example, can be enhanced by blending the most suitable Essential Oils.
2.
Aroma Notes:
Essential Oils are classified into Top Notes, Middle Notes and Base Notes. Based
on their fragrance A good perfume composition harmoniously balances Essential
Oils in these three classifications. Top Notes are sharp, penetrating, highly
volatile and the fastest acting. Middle Notes give body to blends and they are
warm, round and soft. Base Notes are intense, profound and deepen a blend by
drawing it into the skin, giving it permanence. Base Notes slow down evaporation
of more volatile Essential Oils, making their fragrance last longer.
3. Balancing:
The key to balance is to achieve olfactory equilibrium which occurs when two or
more Essential Oils are in a mixture and no single Essential Oil dominates the
odor of the blend. This is achieved by using Essential Oil:

Equalizers
: hold blends together, smoothing out
sharp edges and allowing the blend to flow harmoniously.

Modifiers
: give blends a lift and contribute to
their unique personality.

Enhancers
: have a pleasant fragrance and
slightly modify the blend without overpowering it.
